Countdown: N-4: Taking Time for Yourself
I missed a day due to internets outage. My God, what did we DO before the internet? ;)
This gave me a well deserved night to myself. My husband (who is very close to deciding if he is going to do NaNoWriMo, which is going to be a whole new experience when the two people who live in a house do one of these at the same time! I wonder when the cats will get fed!) and I watched some BREAKING BAD and ate some dinner and I crocheted.
This made me realize that coming up to this, PLEASE spend some time with your significant other, children (be they human or furry) and your friends. Make sure they understand that their part of this, namely supporting you during the month, is appreciated. And also, this way, you don't go too crazy while doing it.
And I cannot emphasis enough that this is also something you might want to do DURING the month of November. It will help your focus and writing and make your family less likely to kill you.
But it in moderation--everything in moderation (except page count, am I right?).
So here we are, 4 days out. Are you with us? Are you on the fence? Fellow Rhinos, help these wannabes make the plunge--what is the best part of NaPlWriMo for you?

I'm so nervous! Definitely with you, but nervous. All this week I've been telling myself that I'm going to get through a revise of my current one-act, and I just haven't done it. There's been trying to work out, seeing a friend, seeing my brother. And last night I had a nice night at home with the boyfriend, whose work schedule is somewhat different from mine, and it was really great. But it was supposed to be a writing night. Tonight I'm going to see a new play by a friend from school, so no writing today either.
So this post actually made me feel a lot better. I need to remember that it's ok to spend time with my boyfriend and my friends, or to do yoga while the cats try to get in my face during it. I get way too hard on myself... does anyone else struggle with this?
Yes. That's it exactly. Clear the decks and get it done. It's so important to give ourselves this time and this opening to create. We're here to help in any way we can.
Go Rhino, go !
If anyone is on the fence, they should really jump in and do the best they can. They shouldn't worry about perfection. This is not about perfection. Worry about perfecting (or at least improving) the results after it is over.
I am SO determined this year that I bought myself a tote, and a t-shirt AND a magnet...all to remind me of how important NaPlWriMo is.
November is for creating creating and creating. Just write it.
