March 7: Character Issues

By solarcirclegirl - Posted on 07 March 2011

I am actually editing two scripts at once. I have one that is going to have a reading in April which I am primarily focused on (it should have been done by now, but you know how that goes) and then I am working on 'Mine'.

I am having problems with a character. He's just nothing. Nobody. The other characters talk about him but the character doesn't match with what they talk about. Sometimes that's good. This is not the play where it is.

And I am not sure what to do. I am doing research into his background, and I am starting to think that maybe I have the wrong character in the play. I don't know. All I know is that I have just over a month to get this thing together, and the final scene is a mess, and that is the least of my worries. I can fix that scene. JR might not be able to be fixed.

So, in case anyone else is coming up with these problems as well, I submit this for your approval. It's a seven day breakdown of working on a character. I am going to make it a seven hour breakdown because I don't really have seven days to wait. Check it out and see what you think.
