March 2: So Glad I'm Not a Brain Surgeon

"The beautiful part of writing is that you don't have to get it right the first time, unlike, say, a brain surgeon. You can always do it better, find the exact word, the apt phrase, the leaping simile."  Robert Cormier

I have gotten to rereading 'Mine' and writing down the scenes, how long they are, who is in the scenes and where the scenes take place. I did a little bit of cutting here and there, but for the most part, I was just reading it to get a feel from it.

It's super raw and needs a lot of work. Halfway through, my characters went from being of Spanish origin to being of Classical Latin origin. I need to fix names and some of the language to reflect this.

But I was genuinely impress with what I have so far. I know it's going to need editing and shaping, but I was practically moved to tears twice while rereading it, so I think that's a good sign.
