Rebellion is the Sincerest Form of Flattery

By VenetianBlond - Posted on 26 October 2010

I wavered back and forth about even signing up this year, because there's something elegant about starting and completing a fresh new work all within the time period. However, there's just no way to do that with the schedule I've got, so here goes.  I'll be working on the second act of a work I've had percolating for a while.  It started as a 10 minute, then grew a 1 Act, and then my producer came up with a phenomenal concept for an Act 2.  We have a venue for the Spring, so I've got to get the durn thing written, workshopped and otherwise ready to go.  So here I am, Rebel Rhino at your service.  See everybody in the checkins!

I hope you don't mind me calling you that--LOVE that name!

I am looking forward to seeing what you do with Tongues of a Broken Heart. If you would, you can make a forum here http://www.naplwrimo.org/forum/186 with the title of your work, and a description. if you need anything, let me know! WELCOME!

I thought about doing a singular, three-act play for this year's (and my first) NaPlWriMo but an idea popped in my head that made me escape from those chains. My play I'm going to write is called Tongues of a Broken Heart: a serious of monologues and tiny scenes.

I'm going back and forth about creating something new or rebelling this year. I have a concept for a timely new play which I believe will also stand the test of time and about which I have expounded on another post. However, I'm having trouble getting into the characters or even naming them.

My 2009 NaPl play needs a second act. The portion I turned in for a contest received an award, so I am pretty excited about it. Though I've not really come up with anything brilliant for it.

Maybe this year we will have a crowd of rebels as well as traditional rhinos!

and, really, that's what matters! I was almost a Rebel this year too, as I was going to write a new scene or short play every day for the 30 Days of November, but then I got possessed of an idea and now I'm doing a straight play. But the fact that you have decided to participate as a Rebel Rhino is just fine! I am looking forward to seeing you at the check-ins as well!
