For checking in on November 3.

I've written really late both nights. I hope I can switch it to mornings because this late at night, my brain is fried. But i wrote another 3 pages ( i'm not bothering putting character names in at this time, so once I do, it probably will be a bit longer. I probably have about 6 pages. Which means I'm behind but hey, I'm a rebel so... not bad.  Sweet dreams every one.

The time for action is now. It's never too late to do something.

Feeling good, feeling good!  I just hope that there's enough there for a whole full-length play.  I tend to write academically and concisely, so I'm afraid I'll get to the end too early.  People who blog about overwriting, and cutting X number of scenes, and cutting Y hundreds of words, I just don't get.

Anyway, it's part of the experiment, yes?  Writing the whole month may help me to make sure everything is fully developed.

Carry on, rhinos!!

Made a character word web today that led to another brainstorming session and lo and behold! I have a scene breakdown. Dialogue is coming easier now that I have a framework. 2 pages written... (and only about 200 pages of grading to do! Yikes!) Think I'll procrastinate on the grading and write some more dialogue tonight.

Are they wearing the jello, eating the jello, knitting strips of hardened jello into tiny kilts for the cats?

I had this great plan, a rough structure, the research holy moly tons of it...

and yet, as soon as I start writing, stuff needs to be said, people who I had no intention of including pop up and demand space, all of a sudden there's another character in my two hander that means a whole other ball game of research that will have to be done later....bablblblblblblblabble

However, I'm at Scene Three.
Yes Scene Two was like, short. Abrupt even.

It feels like I got in a different line up at the fun park and all of a sudden I'm on the rollercoaster when I thought I was getting onto a ferris wheel.

Oh the little ideas are just poping up all over the place. Get an idea, water it, see if it will turn into a little play. Not a bad way to spend the day at all. More hand written pages, and some typing today as well.

The thing that is difficult for me, and I strive to overcome with every project, is to not pass judgement on the writing at this stage in the process. Now is not the time to worry that everything isn't perfect right off the bat. Get it out of me, get it on the page and then take the next step.

...pretend to be insane. or that you know the defendant. There's got to be a million ways to get out of jury duty. However, I think it might be fun to write a play about getting out of jury duty.

for your characters to be obsessed over, right?

Ok, five and a half pages today. Still no sign of logic. It seems that jello is becoming a significant motif in the story, my characters won't stop talking about it... I'm worried.

It's a bit of an onerous responsibility, but I guess I'm going to keep being the first daily report in. No. It's not onerous, it's motivating. I'll try to set a good example, and keep being upbeat :-)

OK. I have 7 pages typed, 2 hand written. So I'm on track. Just. But hey, I'm almost 10% there already, and I don't feel like I've really got started yet.

However, I have just learned that I am to report for Jury duty on 23rd. Can you believe it? Do you think they will let me off for Naplwrimo? No. Might be the seed for another play though. Or the lawyers might object when I declare I am a playwright.

Keep wrighting the good wright!
