36 days away...

Dear NaPlWriMo members,

First, we are 36 days away from November 1st and I am five weeks into graduate school for drama therapy. NaPlWriMo relocated with me from Seattle to San Francisco and I am working on the site with a goal of getting it up mid October.

Eeeeep.

Needless to say, I am buzzing in all kinds of ways and most of all, I am wondering how in the rhino world am I going to write a play *and* do grad school, but that is why they call me Rhino Mama and we've seen stranger things happen before, so... I am excited to try ! Secondly, thank you to these of you who are continuing to donate via our wonderful umbrella organization ,The Shunpike and via the Facebook causes page.

We are still 200 dollars in the hole for paying for the web site and we raised 900 dollars in the past 3 few months ! I can't tell you how thrilled I am that you are interested enough in keeping this crazy idea going and helping me get a decent website for it.

Every dollar makes a huge difference and I know asking money from playwrights is beyond absurd and abnoxious, so thank you , thank you , thank you !!!

Third and not least, I wanted to give these of you who are interested in participating and helping out in November, a chance of letting me know NOW. What I need are people to keep the forums alive ( ie answering other people's posts, sharing etc) , people who are interested in blogging daily about their process, people who are willing to help update some webpages and spread the word about the event. It would also be wonderful, if any or all of you, famous or highly experienced playwrights would contribute and share some of your knowledge and experience. The new website is going to allow for lots of fun spotlights and news stories on the front page so it will be a very easy process as far as technology goes. If you fit the above category or you have a unique idea on how you can and want to help out with Naplwrimo 2008, please make your voice heard now by emailing me at info@naplwrimo.org.

My plan is to have a conference call with these who want to help so we can be clear on our plan of action and have a truly extraordinary edition of NaPlWriMo in 2008. It is my intention that NaPlWriMo be a community where playwrights of all levels thrive, learn and play together. It is also my intention that NaPlWriMo be a catalyst for the birth of new plays and eventually create the means to play a role in the further development and production of these plays. Thank you for continuing to believe in this project and giving me and NaPlWriMo the support and participation needed to keep it going. I hope this finds you well and writing. You'll hear again from me once the new website is up.
