Mother's Milk (working title)

By Marissa - Posted on 03 November 2008

Family relationships are probably the most popular topic for drama but for some reason I have not really explored them in my own writing.  "Mother's Milk" is my conscious attempt to remedy that--my take on the genre that involves multiple generations of one family coming together to celebrate a special occasion, then needing to divulge and come to terms with a long-buried secret.  It's going to be about matriarchy, about what gets passed down from mother to daughter, in a family that just might be a little bit cursed.  With an all-female cast including a four-year-old child (yeah, I don't know how that's going to work...)

I noticed the title on the side of the page and had to come and take a look. I love mother daughter plays, and am currently besotted with Mamma Mia. So much to write about!

It's always a challenge when you come to your first "family play," Marissa.  Mine included a young child as well.  Just write it!  Go with it as it seems right!  It sounds lovely!
