February 2011
An explanation
So, as November was steam-rolling all of us around, I had a crazy thought. What if we took the plays we were working on in November and then spent a month together writing? Wouldn't that be fun?
I think so. So here we are, it's almost March, let's REWRITE!
So what will we do this month?
Well, rewrite, obviously. Unless you were REALLY lucky, I doubt your play (like mine) turned out perfect. Mine started out as one kind, and then changed. I think I actually had characters change names in the middle. I haven't looked at it, but trust me, it's a mess.
So it's going to need some rewriting love.
And I would like for as many of us to get together this coming month and commit to the rewriting process.
I will share my process--it's pretty overdone. I have a whole process for my rewrites that look like Adrian Monk might have gotten a hold of it. And yes, there will be pictures, hopefully in the next couple days as I rewrite another play for a reading I have slated in April.
Now, if you didn't finish or don't like your play, or there's another play that is tickling your fancy and you want to go ahead and rewrite that, SWEET. DO. IT.
The check-ins are not required, but I will encourage you to update as you go along. I, for one, am interested in how you all see rewriting, how it works or doesn't work for you, what your growing pains are with this work, and how you do with the beauty and the frustration of molding the work into what it's supposed to be (which isn't always what we THINK it should be).
So who's with me? Let's get ready to Re-Write!
