"NaPlWriMo is challenging and supportive and nerve-wracking. Since my time is so constricted at the moment, it's the one time of year when I can plan to set aside time to work on nothing else (creatively), but writing a play.
I went in to the event thinking I was going to be writing a script in a very particular way - I thought the play was pretty straightforward. Twenty pages in I realized I had something very different and it took me all month to figure out what it was. It was humbling and yet, the support I got from the other writers and from reading the experiences and struggles everyone else was dealing with allowed me to just sit it out and keep working even though it became clear that I wouldn't finish.
